Most energetic toddlers love bath time. But how do you keep them still in a slippery bathroom? When their interest with bubbles wane, here are items that can help keep you sane.
1. Safety first
While bathing a newborn is hard, giving active toddlers a bath offers a different level of difficulty. Toddlers jump, switch the faucet on and off, suddenly sit on the floor, or take the water dipper out of your hands. All these while you maintain their balance, in between slippery and soapy hands. Well, you need to keep them inside a secure tub to avoid slip ups. Try this fun-looking dog tub, which features a removable stool and a convenient drain. It can be used up until a baby is 6 years old. If you want to save space for less, check out this tub that can be folded when not in use.
If you want to splurge, you can check out the Mommy and baby tub, which can comfortably accommodate an adult with stretched legs. Perfect for bonding during bath times! The tub has a cushion, a thermometer, and a foot massager too!
2. Distraction is the key
Toddlers like to play at bath time but if you need to keep them focused while you scrub their pudgy hands, bath toys like this submarine, or fishing game can help you out. Learning while bath time is possible too with Munchkin’s Bath Letters and Numbers. Want it multi-purpose? Go get good old rubber duckie Flo the Floatie which can serve as a teether too (just don’t forget to wash it!)
3. Speed up the clean-up
Skip shampoos or body washes that are hard to rinse off. Instead, go organic with Messy Bessy’s Head to Toe wash or try the pedia-recommended Cetaphil baby gentle wash and shampoo. If your toddler needs more washing and gets easily sweaty during the day, moms swear by Pigeon’s Hypoallergenic Baby Shampoo and Johnson’s Active Clean and Fresh shampoo. Tangled hair calls for Slick Kids’ Hair detangler.
Using the right washcloth will also help you take the dirt off your toddler’s sensitive skin; try Enfant’s Bamboo baby soft washcloth. When bath time is over, entice your baby to leave the tub with a fun-looking hooded towel like Stephen Joseph’s Dino or Unicorn hoodie.
4. Keep them clean
Your toddler the explorer will touch most items that make him or her curious. Entice them to constantly wash hands with an automatic foam soap dispenser that comes in different shapes and colors. You may also use products that feature cute characters.
