Spring cleaning is already overwhelming when you’re staring at a messy room by yourself. But when you look at the whole house, then add your children running around, overwhelmed is an understatement.
The first step is the hardest. We often think to ourselves, “Where do I even start?” We can help you, mama. Simplify the process. Instead of working against a busy home, try to enlist everyone’s help!
Check out these items that will help you in tenfold, with a couple of tips that will make a huge difference for the finished product a.k.a. cleaner home!
Storage Necessities
The first step, especially when decluttering, is to follow the way of Marie Kondo! Without taking things out and storing them away, you aren’t spring cleaning–– you’re just moving things around.
Tip: Start small! This is not a one-day task–– often times, it’s at least a month-long project. Start with a closet drawer, and work from there. Enlist help from your child! Ask what toys they want to keep, and reward them for each toy they are okay with giving up.
Go through your things and separate what you are keeping, what you can store away, and what you can give up (preferably for donation!). Once that’s done, safely store the second pile!
Tip: When storing items away, it’s important to give as much attention to where it’s going rather than just focusing on the room you’re cleaning. Give everything a home!
Space-saving Furniture
Here comes the fun part! Now that you’ve cleared up some room, the last thing we want is to fill it up again. Use this time to reimagine your spaces and how to optimize it. What can you improve?
With space-saving items, you can get what you need and redefine its uses. Think essentials or decors that serve a double purpose, versatile pieces you can incorporate to gain even more space.
Tip: A way to use space wisely is to go vertical. You get more storage space with less of a cluttered view.
Tip: Lastly, there are simple tricks you can play in your house to give the illusion of more space and divide areas in the same room. For example, in your baby’s nursery, you can segregate the play area from the changing area, simply by using mats as a divider.

Organization Essentials
Now that we’ve invested in items that will maximize every corner, it’s time to envision a long-term maintenance of the tidiness. Do we have everything we need to make organizing easier?
Tip: It’s time to delegate, mama! For best results, you need to instill in your child where what goes after using it. This creates a habit for them, it gives them a sense of responsibility, and it makes your life a little easier in the long run! You could gamify the process and give points or rewards for each time your child remembers to clean up.
