Conversations about caring for the environment and doing something to help preserve it can be quite abstract for young kids. But it’s never too early to help them understand why they need to be environmentally responsible.
If you want to start showing your little one the ropes to living a more sustainable lifestyle but are not sure how to do it, you can always turn to environment documentaries to inspire and encourage your child to become a significant steward of Mother Earth. These documentaries will surely open their eyes and educate them on the important role they will play in saving our planet:
1. Chasing Ice
This documentary is for everyone who has ever dreamed of stepping foot on places like Greenland and Alaska. Not only does the film feature jaw-dropping shots of these frozen worlds, it also gives heartwarming realizations of the effects of global warming on glaciers. It is told through the lens of acclaimed environmental photographer James Balog, whose work in Chasing Ice, won him various awards and accolades. Chasing Ice is available on Amazon Prime and iTunes.
2. Our Planet
Narrated by world famous environmentalist and historian David Attenborough, Our Planet was made exclusively available on Netflix in 2019. It captures the diverse natural beauty of our planet and takes viewers on different journeys: from frozen worlds and coastal seas, to deserts and forests. 3. Tales by Light
Another Netflix must-watch, Tales by Light documents the journey of nature photographers and videographers around the world. This documentary is perfect for your young dreamer who’s curious to know what it’s like to pursue an environment-centered profession.This will give them a whole new perspective on nature, human beings, and even cultures. 
4. Earth at Night In Color
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to capture the nocturnal lives of animals? Through cutting-edge camera technology, Earth at Night In Color filmed the lives of some of the coolest animals in the world, under the moonlit sky. Here you’ll discover never-before-seen animal behaviors of lions, tarsiers, and bears, among others. This docu-series is available on Apple TV
5. Monkey Kingdom
Released by Disneynature in 2015, Monkey Kingdom chronicles the life of a family of monkeys living in ancient ruin tucked within a luscious jungle in Sri Lanka. It follows the story of the macaque Maya, a clever monkey whose life changed after she had her son Kip. This documentary gives you a glimpse of the enforced caste system within the monkey kingdom and the resilience that some animals have to embody in order to survive. 6. Tomorrow 
Take your child on a journey around the world and let him meet the sustainability innovators who are working hard to save the world. This documentary features urban gardeners, renewable energy advocates, and environment warriors who are providing solutions to significant issues such as rising temperature, growing global population, and climate change so that the youth of tomorrow can continue to live and thrive.
