No tradition is as fun and memorable as when you observe it with the people who truly matter. Foster special bonds and build happy core memories with the whole family by creating traditions that your children will look forward to and pass on to their own children in the future.
What about you start with Halloween, a season well-loved by kids and kids-at-heart? Here are some activities you can do together as a family this Halloween and the next ones after this:
1. Deck your home with Halloween decors.
Incorporate the spooky and scary elements of this season into your home design. You don’t need to fill up every corner of your home with ghouly ghosts—although you can if you want to. A little Halloween decor twist here and there could set off the fright fest in your abode.
2. Bond over creating Halloween crafts.
Get creative and crafty with your Halloween decors by going the DIY arts and crafts route. You can use this activity to bond with your little ones while you cut, color, and create Halloween “masterpieces” such as felt finger puppets or popsicle haunted houses.
3. Bake Halloween treats.
Need a cute and adorable kitchen assistant? Look no further as your little one can be your baking buddy when whipping up delicious cookies, biscuits, or cupcakes in fun and frightening designs just in time for Halloween.
4. Dress up in Halloween costumes.
There’s a reason why kids love Halloween—they get to live out their dreams of becoming their favorite cartoon character or superhero by dressing up in that costume. It’s like doing pretend plays, a type of play that encourages children’s imagination and creativity and helps them express their feelings and ideas.
Let them choose what they want to be for Halloween this year: a pretty princess, a scary skeleton, or classic Jack O’Lantern. Need some more ideas, mama? Check this out: Halloween Costume Ideas For Your Child.
5. Go trick or treating.
Your little one will have the time of their lives going trick or treating while donning their spookily fun costume. It’s a Halloween experience they’ll keep talking about for years to come! Whether it’s in a hotel, your community club, or your neighborhood, forget not their pumpkin basket to store and house all the sweet treats they’ll be getting from this fun Halloween activity.
6. Host a Halloween party.
Who says you can only throw a party at home during birthdays and Christmas? Start a Halloween party tradition that everyone in the family—and your closest circle—will look forward to annually.
