The new year brings in a lot of hope for many people – with resolutions made, changes accepted, and new ideas formed, it is a great way to bring new, good energy into your life.
With a new, clean slate in your hands, this could also mean a neater and tidier home for you and your family. Here are four organization tips for the new year which you can do:
1.) Declutter
Have three storage boxes ready while you declutter every room in your home. One bin will be labeled “to keep,” one will be labeled “to throw,” and one will be labeled “to sell/donate.”
By decluttering your home, you’ll be able to keep it more organized and fresh right in time for the new year. It’s time to let go of things that no longer serve you and your family!
2.) Deep Clean the House
Use a schedule to clean up your home. Allocate a certain number of hours per area, and you’ll see that your house will look fresher and cleaner as you ring in 2023. Cleaning can even be a great way for you to relax or destress!
Sweep every corner of the house, mop the floors using an all-purpose cleaner, and vacuum all the furniture, rugs, and curtains to remove all the dust that accumulated through the year.
Use disinfectants on frequently-touched surfaces like tabletops, doorknobs, sinks and toilets to keep germs away.
3.) Hide your Clutter
Investing in storage materials for your home can do wonders in keeping it neat and orderly. Use storage organizers or boxes to stash away things that you don’t need to have out in plain sight all day long. Add labels to easily find what you are looking for and place them in areas at home that are out of sight.
4.) Make a Home Maintenance Schedule for the New Year
List down the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks you need to do at home and track your progress. From changing the sheets and curtains, to deep cleaning the furniture, to spring cleaning your closets, list down everything you need to do to keep your home organized and stick to your schedule.
This can even turn into a fun quest that the entire family can join – assign them tasks and incentivize them to get more things done in no time.
The new year is the perfect time to let go of things that no longer play a part in your life. Start with your home, and slowly integrate it to more aspects of your life, and you’ll see that not only will you become stress-free, but you’ll be peaceful, happy, and at ease, too.
Happy 2023!
