Activities that allow children to create something with their hands are a sure-fire way to beat their boredom, especially now that they’re not allowed to leave the house. But more than that, nurturing your little one’s creative side has many benefits, especially to their overall wellbeing.
In their book The Creativity Cure: How to Build Happiness with Your Own Two Hands, authors Carrie and Alton Barron said that “when you make things, you feel good.” They wrote: “Creativity is important for happiness... No matter who you are, some degree of creativity is necessary for wellness and contentment... Creativity can make everyday life interesting, lead to great accomplishments, or both.”
Aside from boosting creativity and promoting self-expression, arts & crafts activities are also good for the brain. To be able to create something will also give your child a sense of pride and accomplishment. For the younger ones, they help develop their fine motor skills and improve their hand-eye coordination.
Nurture your child’s creative development by enrolling them in any of these online arts & crafts classes.
If you have kids aged 3 to 8, Learning Ville offers a fun creative art class where children get to paint with watercolors, create doodle arts, make origami, and other crafts. Online classes are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Looking for something to keep your kid away from online games and movies even for a few hours? Round up the family for an afternoon of creating tie dye shirts by following an instructional video—and proudly wearing them afterward of course! What a fun way to bond with the kids!
Make Saturdays even more colorful with the Art Explorers class where kids get to use their senses to develop a deeper appreciation of the arts. Participants will be taught how to use different craft materials, make new friends, and ultimately, produce colorful artworks. This class is open to kids 2 to 7 years old.
Improving one’s fine motor activities can be addressed through exercise and play. Fitness Bee offers creative classes that include art and crafts activities that also promote health and wellness among children. Classes are held every Saturday morning, and are perfect for kids aged 1 to 6.
With the goal of turning kids into lifelong learners, KinderClub Playschool offers interactive activities that are perfect for kids aged 2 to 4. While they’re in the comforts of home, it’s best for kids to hone their social, emotional, cognitive, and gross motor skills through play. Not only will they learn how to create artworks, they also meet new friends through online classes.
