Whether it’s summer vacation or a long weekend coming up, one of the default ways families spend their free time would be to take trips out of town. After all, the metro can sometimes get tiring to be in. So, what better way to get a break from it by getting a change of scenery!
The Philippines is home to 7,107 islands. So, that means there’s a ton of places you can go and take your family. For example, you could go all the way to places like Boracay or Palawan if you really want to get away from the city. However, not everyone has the budget for something like that.
Despite this, there are still places for you to go to that are still perfect for your family getaway. South Luzon is still filled with many picturesque, quaint, and interesting locations where your family is sure to have a great time. What’s more, they’re also budget friendly if you’re looking for something that won’t burn a hole in your wallet. So, with that in mind, here are some places in South Luzon that you and your family can visit during your next out of town trip!

South Tripping

Before we get to listing down the locations your family can check out when you want to go on a trip down south, there’s something we believe we should clarify first. When we talk about South Luzon, we’re going to be covering places like Cavite, Batangas, and places south of that.
People can still get confused when you mention south of Luzon or Manila, thinking of places like Alabang or Paranaque. However, we’re going to be talking about places that go farther south than that.
Aside from that, do note that this list is not extensive. We’ll only be giving you a few locations for the sake of brevity. However, these are still going to be locations that are definitely going to be good for your family. We can promise you that! So, without further ado, here are a few places that’ll be perfect for family time!

Yoki’s Farm (Cavite)

Yoki’s Farm is a little gem that can be found in Mendez, Cavite. So, it’s definitely not that lengthy of a drive if you’re coming from the Metro. What’s more, it’s a farm in several different aspects!
It’s a 10-hectare plot of land that is home to an orchidarium, a hydroponics farm, as well as several different farm animals. So, you can definitely find yourself appreciating some greener scenery. What’s more, you can also get your children to learn how to appreciate nature, farming, and farm animals too. So, this is definitely a place worth considering!

Toontown Park Toy Museum (Cabuyao, Laguna)

If your family loves toys, comic book heroes, and wants to find a place to enjoy both those things while still getting away from the city, there’s a place that’s perfect for you! Toontown Park is a toy museum found in Cabuyao, and it has all those things! From comic book heroes to toys and collectibles of all shapes and sizes, this place has got a pretty extensive display!
So, if you want to go to a different kind of museum while venturing around the Laguna area, Toontown is definitely the place to go to. You can be rest assured that this is a museum that you can take your kids to that won’t be boring. If you’re a fan of these things too and want your kids to learn more about them too, then this is also a great place to show them!

Villa Escudero (Quezon Province)

Villa Escudero was once just a coconut plantation. However, the family that owned it eventually decided to open its doors to guests and visitors. Now, it’s 800-hectare plot of land is one of South Luzon’s most well-known destinations for several reasons.
For starters, this entire complex houses a museum filled with a vast array of antiquities. It also houses the Labasin Waterfalls, which has brought about another interesting attraction: a restaurant by the waterfall. It’s here where people can dine while soaking their feet in the water that runs from the waterfall. If that wasn’t enough, Villa Escudero is also a resort.
So, if you’re looking to take a daytrip to experience the waterfall, museum, or other Filipino culture-related sites, this is a go-to! If you’re looking to get away from the metro for a couple of days, you can also stay here and take in the sights and surroundings. What’s more, you can book your trip here in their Manila office! That’s definitely convenient.

Mabini (Batangas)

If you’re looking for a place where you can go snorkeling or diving, a beach to lounge on, or a place to hike to, Mabini’s the perfect place for you! Located in Batangas, Mabini is a town filled with different sights and activities. What’s more, it’s not that far from Manila!
Mabini offers you the best of both worlds in terms of activities you can do on land and water. As it sits on a Peninsula, the town is peppered with beaches and different dive spots. There are also several hikable areas found in the town. If you just want to rest, you can do that too as there are many resorts that can accomodate you and your family.

Legazpi City (Albay, Bicol Province)

If you don’t mind taking a longer trip down the south of Luzon, then Legazpi might be another place worth considering. Known as the capital of Albay, Legazpi is home to the Mayon Volcano. However, it’s more than just the place where the cone-shaped volcano can be found.
In this city, you can also find the famed Cagsawa Ruins, see the Albay Gulf, and also partake in several activities like ziplining and hiking. With the amount of sights and activities you can do here, Legazpi is a perfect place to spend a few days in. After all, it’s best to take your time and make the most out of your stay there.
There are definitely more places to visit in the south of Luzon. However, if you’re looking for places to start, these are definitely ones worth considering. What’s more, they’re all easy to find, whether it be by Google or their official website. They’re all also easy to get to should the time come and you decide to go on that out-of-town family trip. So, if you’re looking for someplace to go with your family for a few days, consider these suggestions! We can assure you that these are all places that your family will enjoy.
