Reading serves as a child’s window to the world and it is our role as parents to open that window for them.
Learning to read at an early age proves to be beneficial as kids are able to improve their attention span and concentration. Broadening their vocabulary through reading also enables them to discover more about the world around them. Hence, it is important to build a strong foundation in language and literacy-related skills.
But if you see your child struggling, know that this could be caused by a variety of reasons. One way you can help them is to enroll them in classes that will help develop their reading skills as well as their love for reading.
Ahead, we list down reading classes that are designed based on the learning needs of your child.
This online class teaches kids, aged 4 to 6, the fundamentals of reading—from sounds to letter names, different word reading strategies, and reading comprehension. Classes are held with thematic lessons in the form of arts, songs and storytelling, making learning interactive and engaging. You also don’t have to worry about the pace, as your child’s vocabulary, grammar, and skills will be assessed to determine their class level. Sessions are held twice a week, for 45 minutes each.

Reading isn’t just about saying things you read out loud, but also knowing how to comprehend. Word Work by Readability Center focuses on teaching kids aged 5 to 7 (Grades 1 and 2) how to read short stories, thereby improving the vocabulary and reading comprehension. Take advantage of the free trial classes every Tuesday and Thursday, from 2pm to 3pm.
This 12-month program depends on the level of your child. Levels 1 to 3 will help students complete letter names and sounds. For Levels 4 to 5, students will be taught topics like Beginning Consonant Blends, Digraphs and Sight Words (Set A), and will also be exposed to children’s books. Levels 6 to 8 will focus on learning End Consonant Blends, Long Vowel Sounds, Controlled Vowels, Double Vowels, and Sight Words (Set B) and will have kids practice reading books.
To keep children engaged, classes are held through oral drills, games, and other multi-sensory activities. Online reading resources and learning kits are provided to all students every month.
Specifically designed for pre-K learners aged 3 to 5, Galileo Online Kids offers an enrichment program that teaches literacy skills in the English language, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
