Life is getting more hectic by the minute, and things can get really crazy around the household. With kids that demand round-the-clock attention on top of everything else mamas need to take care of, we could really use all the help we could get!
Here are hacks that could help lighten your parenting load as they help you get things done quickly and more efficiently. You’re welcome, mama!
1. Turn cardboard boxes into extra storage units.
Did you just clean up your house and realized you’ve got too many cardboard boxes from your edamama deliveries? No need to throw them away as you can transform them into extra storage! With some gift wraps, ribbons, colored markers, and a little creativity, these cardboard boxes could turn into stylish spaces for your trinkets and curios.
2. Set up multiple baby changing stations at home.
First-time mamas, we hear you. It’s exhausting going all the way to a designated baby changing station (say, on the second floor of your house) when it’s time to replace your little one’s nappy. Consider setting up different baby changing stations at home. This is especially useful for houses with multiple storeys, as this could save you a lot of time and energy carrying the baby from one corner to another.
3. Wrap a rubber band around a tight jar to twist it open.
Opening a stubborn jar can be a little frustrating, especially if you’re in a hurry wrapping up meal preparation or don’t have anyone in the house to help you deal with a tight jar. When you find yourself in such situations, use a thick rubber band, wrap it around the lid, and voila, your jar’s not that hard to open anymore!
4. Organize your pantry and label the containers.
An organized pantry makes life easier for mamas who prepare meals day in, day out in the heart of the home. You don’t want things falling off the shelves when you are trying to access items you need. Invest in see-through canisters so you get to easily check when you’re running low on your cooking staples. Most of them are stackable so it can save you some space in the pantry. Don’t forget to label your canisters, so you won’t mistake sugar from salt!
5. Get your baby a white noise machine.
Help your baby get quality sleep with a white noise machine, which produces different kinds of sounds—including nature sounds—that can lull your baby to sleep. Whether it's the soothing sound of the ocean or the enchanting melody of the forest, this baby must-have can help relax and comfort your child while you also take your well-deserved shut-eye.
6. Attach a hook to your baby’s high chair.
Here comes baby’s meal time, but mama’s still looking for the bib. Never let this happen again when you have a hook at the back of the high chair your little one's using when eating, and storing the bib there.
7. Use newspapers to wipe the windows.
If you’re going to clean your window and want it streak-free, get several sheets of newspapers, scrunch them up, then use them to wipe off any remaining liquid. Newspapers are great alternatives to cloth and paper towels—you’ll be surprised at how shiny your windows could become!
8. Have less mess with a popsicle drip catcher.
Let your little bean enjoy his frozen treat without you worrying about the mess they will make. Thanks to your DIY skills, you can create a drip catcher using halved paper cups or cupcake liners.
9. Get your child to drink more water.
Kids can sometimes get lazy drinking their H20 as most would spend hours playing while other simply don't like water because it's tasteless. Keep them hydrated by adding lemon or lime in a glass of water, or ice cubes infused with fruity flavors.
10. Wear your baby.
There are so many good reasons why you should consider babywearing. Aside from its benefits to your little bubba, babywearing allows multitasking queens (aka moms!) to be hands-free so that you can accomplish other things in your never-ending to-do list.
