It all started with a mama’s problem. Like any devoted mother, every product she bought for her children went through intense research and social-proofing within her community. Despite her efforts, she’d still receive substandard items being shipped to her home after going through poor customer service. With all of these pain points adding up, she reached the pinnacle of her resolve: parents not only need but deserve a better experience.
A Mama-Led Start-up
Bela Gupta D'Souza is no stranger to the world of start-ups. In 2011, she was the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Groupon in Thailand, the country's most prominent social e-commerce website. She then moved to the Philippines, where she founded and headed AdSpark Philippines as its Chief Executive Officer for five years. Afterwhich, she worked as a Managing Partner for Decapolis Partners, an advisory growth services company for local and international start-ups.
Of everything Bela's achieved in her life, however, her greatest achievement is being a mother to her two beautiful children. It's her love for them that inspired the beginning of edamama.
So, Bela took her passion for being a mother and her years of experience in the start-up industry and married the two together. With a strong mission of simplifying decision-making for parents, she brought together a team of fellow mothers who conceptualized the idea of having an integrated platform for mothers in the country.
Not your average e-commerce website
For them, edamama wasn't just going to be another e-commerce website. Instead, their vision was to put up a platform that stayed committed to helping parents make better decisions for their children.
True to their promise, edamama is currently more than just your average e-commerce platform. Its features provide parents with a holistic approach to parenting and provide families with nothing but the best products, services, and content.
Aside from having thousands of vetted brands on the platform, edamama pioneered the creation of a convenient and easy-to-use gift registry system. Customers may create customized gift registries for their kids to link to their loved ones. edamama also has an option for complimentary gift wrapping, making gift-giving a lot simpler, especially during the pandemic.
edamama also launched the country's first-ever subscription program for children's supplies, Subscribe and Save. First starting as a diaper subscription service, it has expanded to provide parents with formula milk subscription options.
edamama provides parents with access to world-class services as well. Through their Explore page, parents may book a variety of pregnancy and childcare classes, academic tutoring services, child workshops, and many more.
They also embraces the fact that Filipino parents are big on community. Its team of content creators frequently put out a variety of articles on everything parenting and childcare in hopes of helping parents navigate through the world of pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare.
The Philippines' most trusted platform for mothers
Two years since edamama first introduced itself to the parenting space, it has emerged as the most trusted platform for mothers in the Philippines. Hundreds of thousands of mothers have come to trust and love edamama's personalized shopping experience and the content it puts out to inspire and inform mamas.
As a mama-led platform and with a growing team of mothers, aspiring mothers, and kids-at-heart, edamama is no stranger to the ever-evolving needs of parents and their children. Backed by its mission of simplifying decision-making for parents, edamama continues to learn from its experiences from the past two years and continues to innovate its products and services to serve Filipino families and their needs better.
