Woman cleaning for Christmas celebration
Not a lot of people realize that the secret to a stress-free gathering is a clean, tidy home. When you keep your home neat and clean, everything else follows: you’ll know where to look for specific items, you’re assured your family will be safe because you’ve thoroughly cleaned and sanitized everything, and you’re ready to host a fun family celebration knowing you’ve prepared everything beforehand.
If you’re starting to feel overwhelmed with the fact that you have a Christmas gathering to host, here are the top five things you should do before the day itself:
1.) Deep Clean the House
Deep cleaning the house makes sure that the surfaces and things your family will touch is clean and sanitized. With so many diseases that can be contracted through contact, keeping the house clean will leave you at ease knowing everything was disinfected for the safety of your loved ones.
Sweep every corner of the house, mop the floors using an all-purpose cleaner, and vacuum all the furniture, rugs, and curtains to remove all the dust from them. Once you’re through cleaning, spray the air with some disinfectant spray and keep the house smelling fresh and clean by lighting a scented candle or by using a room and linen spray.
2.) Disinfect Common Areas Thoroughly
Using disinfectants can keep nasty bacteria away from your families. Disinfect frequently-touched surfaces like tabletops, doorknobs, sinks and toilets before the party for your guests’ peace of mind.
3.) Hide your Clutter
If you aren’t ready to let go of most of your belongings just yet, one way to disguise them during your Christmas gathering is to stash them away in storage organizers or boxes. There are many aesthetically pleasing boxes available nowadays – choose the ones that match your home’s interiors so that they don’t stand out and easily blend in with your furniture.
4.) Bring out the Dinnerware
Bring out your dinnerware, glassware and cutlery! Thoroughly clean all the stashed dinnerware you plan to use during Christmas to make sure that no dust remains on them before use.
5.) Turn on Air Purifiers in all Common Areas
Once your house is all set and ready to accept guests, keep all air purifiers open to make sure that the air inside your home is constantly sanitized. Air purifiers remove pollutants, allergens, and toxins in the air, making it safer to inhale.
Once you’ve done these five things, you’re ready for your Christmas party! Don’t worry too much, mama. What matters most is the quality time spent with your family, and the special memories you’re bound to create together.
Have a Merry Christmas!
